Darsheel Safary

Darsheel Safary was born on  9th March 1996 in a Jain family. Darsheel is an Indian film actor working in Hindi Bollywood films. He is best known for his highly critically acclaimed portrayal of a dyslexic child in the 2007 film Taare Zameen Par.

In 2007, Safary made his acting debut in Taare Zameen Par, playing the film's protagonist Ishaan Nandkishore Awasthi. Safary was discovered by script writer and creative director, Amol Gupte during late 2006 when he was looking for a male lead for his film, Taare Zameen Par. After going through hundreds of auditions, Gupte found Safary at Shiamak Davar’s dancing school, "Summer Funk". In choosing Safary, Gupte had a number of boys audition for a scene in which they would informally describe how they would "bunk" school after being given a few scenarios. He recalls, “It was a tough call. But Darsheel has the mischief in his eyes to be Ishaan. Everyone just naturally gravitated towards him."

Safary's performance as a struggling dyslexic child in the film was unanimously praised and he won several awards for his performance. Many prominent film critics have praised Safary for his performance including, Taran Adarsh from indiaFM who wrote, "Taare Zameen Par belongs to Master Darsheel Safary. A performance that makes the best of performances pale in comparison. A performance that deserves brownie points. A performance that'll always come first on your mind the moment someone mentions Taare Zameen Par. A performance that's impeccable, flawless and astounding. A performance that moves you and makes you reflect on your growing years. A performance that merits a special award!"

Darsheel has become costly

IndiaGlitz

Rs. 1.25 crore for a child artist.

Unbelievable? May be until a few years ago this amount would have seemed astronomical.

The most famous child actor of India Darsheel Safary is the little guy who is heard to be charging Rs.1.25 crore to be part of new projects.

Some days back there were reports of film maker Ajay Monga planning a flick with Darsheel handling the lead role.

The future of Ajay’s movie is in jeopardy now due to Darsheel acting fees.

Mr. Monga says that when the budget of his film is only Rs. 1.5 crore, how he can think of giving Darsheel Rs. 1.25 crore.

Though the global financial recession has caused some damage in B-Town, everyone will agree that when compared to earlier times, the film industry has become extremely rich.

It seems that Darsheel decided to adopt a high price after learning about the big stars whose pay packet per film runs into crores.

After all when popularity and adulation is concerned, Darsheel although only one film old is also rated nothing less than a star.

And if there is this general conception that today Bollywood in terms of production and marketing is increasingly going the Hollywood way, there is no need to get surprised hearing the Kid actor’s fees.
